Description
The retina is a delicate nervous membrane that lines the inner surface of the eye. Images of external objects are received on the retina. The optic nerve then sends nerve impulses from these images to various visual centers of the brain. Photoreceptor cells are directly sensitive to light. Its outer surface is in contact with the choroid. Its inner surface is in contact with the hyaloid membrane of the vitreous body.
