Other Terms: Cerebral peduncle, Pedunculus cerebri, Pedunculi cerebri, Pédoncule cérébral
Description
The cerebral peduncles are two cylindrical bundles of nerve fibers that are situated at the base of the brain, and largely hidden by the temporal lobes of the cerebrum. They form the chief connection between the cerebral hemispheres and the spinal cord. They are the most anterior structure of the midbrain and form the walls of the fourth ventricle.
