Internal pudendal vein
Other Terms: Vena pudenda interna
Description
The internal pudendal vein accompanies the internal pudendal artery. It receives branches corresponding to those of the artery, with the exception of the dorsal vein of the penis, which gives only a small branch to the internal pudendal vein. The internal pudendal artery, as it crosses the spine of the ischium in its passage from the greater to the lesser sciatic foramina, is indicated by the junction of the middle and distal thirds of a line drawn from the posterior superior spine of the ilium to the tuberosity of the ischium. The inferior gluteal artery is close to it, but on its lateral side.
