Radial recurrent artery
Other Terms: Arteria recurrens radialis, Artère récurrente radiale
Description
The radial recurrent arises from the lateral side of the radial artery, passes downward between the supinator and brachioradialis muscles and between the radial and dorsal interosseous nerves. Then it passes between the brachialis and brachioradialis muscles, both of which it partially supplies. It anastomoses with the terminal branches deep brachial artery in front of the lateral epicondyle and between the brachialis and brachioradialis muscles. From its arch, it sends muscular branches to the supinator and extensor muscles, some of which pass beneath the latter to anastomose with the interosseous recurrent branch of the dorsal interosseous. It also supplies the elbow-joint.
