Other Terms: Ligamentum falciforme (Hepatis), Falciform ligament of liver, Ligamentum falciforme hepatis, Ligament falciforme du foie
Description
The falciform ligament of the liver extends from the upper convex surface of the liver to the diaphragm and the anterior abdominal wall. It is attached by its convex border to the diaphragm and the posterior surface of the sheath of the right rectus muscle as low down as the umbilicus. It is attached by its lower concave border to the upper surface of the liver, between the anterior and posterior margins. Posteriorly, it is continuous with the coronary and triangular ligaments of the liver. Its free border, which extends from the umbilicus to the anterior border of the liver, contains the ligamentum teres between its two layers.
