Scrotum
Description
The scrotum is the pouch which hangs from the anterior part of the perineum and the subpubic region at the root of the penis; it contains the testicles and their pedicles, the spermatic cord. The layers of tissue in the scrotum or investing the testicles are: the skin, the superficial fascia, and the superficial part of the dartos muscle, the three forming a common investment for both testicles; the intercolumnar (external spermatic) fascia, the cremasteric fascia, the infundibuliform (internal spermatic) fascia, and the tunica vaginalis, these last four forming individual investments for each testicle.
